Happy Birthday Mom!!

My mothers birthday was on december 5th and this is the card that I sent to her.

Getting a little sentimental here but I just want to tell everyone how much I love my mom and how much she means to me! My mom and my dad has always been there for me supporting me through out my life and I am so greatful for everything they have done for me over the years! Unfortunately I don't get to see them as much as I would like since they still live in the north part of Sweden where I grew up. But that make the times we do spend together so special! We're going up to visit them for a week over new years and I just can't wait to get home to see my parents and to take long walks out in the lovely winter wonderland up there!

I made this card with things from my november kit from My Creative Scrapbook.
'Grattis' is of course Swedish and means congratulations if you translate it directly but it's more our way of saying Happy Birthday.

Hi blog readers! :)

Just checking in to say hello and to tell you that I'm glad that you are stopping by to read my blog! I realise I haven't posted in a while and that's why I wanted to post today to let you know that I haven't forgotten about this blog! I'm just not getting a lot of creative stuff done lately and the one thing I have scrapped recently I forgot to take a picture of before I gave it away.

I altered a clock (like the one you can see further down in this blog) but with a totally different look. I donated the clock to our church. They had a fund raiser event where they were raising money for the work they do with the young scouts. They had an auction for secret gifts where people could donate a gift. Then when all the gifts were auctioned out they had a drawing and two of the people that had bought the gifts also won a bigger prize. It was a great evening of lotteries, auctions and fun and a lot of money was raised for the scouts. I also donated a gift card for a linedance class. The highest bidder gets to invite up to 40 friends for a linedance class where I teach 2 dances. :)

So, not a lot of scrapping getting done here but hopefully that'll change soon! I need to get started on my christmas cards!!

Fathers Day

This coming sunday we celebrate fathers day in Sweden. I have made a card for my dad with the cutest little owl stamp that I bought yesterday at MiMa's Scrapbooking. I painted it with 'Twinkles'. It was my first time using this glittery watercolor type paint and my technique has yet to be improved!! :) I have decided that it's charming when it's not perfect though! LOL!

The card is made so that when you open it, you still see the scalloped circle with the flower.

I have another project to show you as well. In my latest DT kit I got more glittery papers from Best Creation. These are not from the christmas line though. With black dotted cardstock I have made a box and then decorated it with the best creation paper, black and white tull, flowers and punchinella.

I can't believe...

...how fast christmas is approaching. I'm chocked every year when the stores start selling christmas decorations in october and earlier sometimes too. To me it seems a bit early. When it comes to making christmas cards I got a late start last year. It will probably will be 'last minute' making most of my cards this year too but in my latest DT kit I got some lovely glittery christmas papers from Best Creation. If you're like me and love anything glittery, these pp's are a must have. They are gorgeous and I get that warm fuzzy christmas feel looking at them.
They will soon be up in the webshop at MiMa's Scrapbooking for the readers from Sweden. To my US readers you can go to the Best Creation Webpage to find out where you can buy them. Here's a link to the christmas papers if you want to look at all of them.

Unfortunately, neither my pictures or the pictures at the Best Creation website don't do these papers justice. Glitter is hard to capture in a photo so if you have a chance to look at them in a store that's preferable.

Ok, so here are the cards that I made. First up is another big card. I made my first big card earlier for my brothers birthday (you can look at it in a previous post on my blog). There were just so many beautiful details on this Best Creation paper and I couldn't fit all of them on a regular sized card so I decided to go big! :) This card is 6x12 inches / 15x30 cm.

Now look at this adorable snowman. Isn't he cute?! The ribbon to the left is sort of a plasticy rubbery material. I used "Glossy Accents" to attach it. Glossy accents is perfect for not only getting that glossy finish to projects but also to attach clear things like the ribbon I've used and overlays. You can use it as glue.

The next card is kind of a pop-up card. I kept it pretty simple on the front and then when you open it there's a ribbon going across it with cut out christmas ornaments hanging down. LOL! I feel that my explaining skills in english are lacking so I think it's better if you just look at the pictures.

Foolin' around with STUDS!! :)

Lucky me! I've had the opportunity to fool around with studs for the past few days. Studs as in...Prima's Say it in studs that is! I got some great stuff in my latest DT kit; papers from Bo Bunny, felt and of course the studs and the result? 4 new cards!

When I first sat down with my kit I thought, now how am I gonna use that felt?! Then it hit me, the felt was kinda fuzzy like a teddy bear. So, I took the cute bear in the "say it in studs" package and placed him on some pink felt. Then I cut around the bear and adhered him to my card. Isn't he cute? I've also used my new "water threading punch" from Fiskars to create the scalloped edge on the card.

I got pink and green felt in my DT kit and the green felt was perfect for my next little studly thing, the dinosaur!

I was surfing around trying to get some ideas for fun cards and when I landed on Card Positioning Systems blog I just had to scrap lift the flower bouquet card. It was just the perfect way to use the felt. I also got some pearls in my kit that I thought was a bit of a challenge to use but they turned out to be a cute way to decorate the flower bouquet.

For my 4th card I used my last cute stud animal. I decided to not do the fuzzy felt thing this time and just placed it on my patterned paper instead. This is how it turned out:

Now I can't wait to get my next DT kit! LOL! It is just so much fun to use papers and embellies that someone else has picked out for you. Challenging but fun!

New DT member for MiMa's Scrapbooking! :)

I am so excited! 2 friends of mine have opened a scrapbook shop and I'm so proud to be a member of their Design Team. I will mainly be making cards and maybe a layout once in a while.
In my first DT kit I got the wonderful papers from Basic Grey's Ambrosia line to work with. You can buy all the pp's that I've used for these cards at MiMa's Scrapbooking.

First up is a Double Pocket Card. These are so easy and so much fun to make.

My second card is called a Mini Pocket Card. You write your greeting on the tag in the little pocket. The black cardstock I used for this card looks great. There are dots on it and it gives it a really nice texture. (I also used white dotted cardstock on the tags on the double pocket card).

Next up is a "Spinner Card". I got this technique from the Hero Arts blog (you can find a link in to the left on my blog). The card I made is a scraplift from a girl named Diana. I got a similar card in a card swap that I'm in and I just had to lift it!

The last card is a bookmark card. I cut two slits on the front of the card and then threaded the card through the slits to hold it in place.

Title block!

I just couldn't come up with a good title , so there... now that we've got that part over with, lets get to the actual blog post! :)

Not too much going on here actually. Just a lot of line dancing and a bit of scrapping!

The wierd moment of the day was when the doorbell rang and when I opened the door a really old dude was standing there holding about 32 eggs! My first thought was, you've got to be kidding me...are you here to sell eggs?! But instead he asked if I knew something about a family named Smith (well, lets call them Smith. They had a different name that I can't even remember now). They had supposedly moved to our area 3 months ago. I told the old dude with the eggs that I didn't know where the Smith family lives and with that he was leaving.

I know, I'm really not a great blogger when all I have to write about today is an egg carrying old geezer! So, how about if I just post my latest work instead?!

First up, a layout with my cute niece! The picture was taken on midsummers eve several years ago. (She's turning 12 in 10 days)

This card I made for a card swap I'm in. This is one of the cards I sent in September. I used a page from an old book to create this!

Next up is a birthday card I made for a friend. The flowers are hand cut out from a patterned paper. I just love the colors on those flowers! Nice and bright!

Last creation for the day is my very first clear card. This was a lot of fun to make so there'll be more clear cards coming for sure!

Santa got here early this year!!

So I got a FedEx delivery from Hero Arts! In my last post I told you about the $50 shopping spree I won. I thought for sure I would have to pay for shipping myself but I got the shipping worth $32 too!! I placed my order and it turned out the stuff I wanted cost me a bit more than $50 but I figured, hey why not go for it when shipping is free! :) So the other day I got this awsome package with the stuff I ordered. But here's the mind blowing part...on top of the $50 and the $32 for shipping the good people at Hero Arts threw in not one, not two, not three....but six (!!!!) yes, six wood mounted stamps!! How generous is that?!!! They came in little bags with a red ribbon tied around them. Hero Arts ROCK!! Can't wait to start playing with my new goodies!

I've finally gotten some scrappin' done too!! Earlier this week I altered a clock from Kaiser Craft that I got at my LSS. The roman numbers (rubons) and the black gem stones are also from Kaiser Craft. The adorable pp is from Pink Paisley and so are the butterfly rubons. I just totally fell in love with the owl when I got that pp in my monthly kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

The sweet girl in the pictures is my niece Evelina. Third time was the charm in getting her to smile when I took these pictures! The LO is called "At last I got a smile". The papers used here was also in my september kit from My Creative Scrapbook. The black and the turqouise pp's are from Vintage Moon. The overlay to the right in the picture is from Hambly.

A lucky girl!!

I've had a great couple of scrapbooking weeks! It actually started about a month ago I think when I posted a comment in the Hero Arts blog and won an embellishment kit. My luck continued with one of the weekly drawings for the Sizzlin Summer Contest over at My Creative Scrapbook where I won a prize. (Don't know what the prize is yet, I will recieve it with my September Kit from My Creative Scrapbook). The next awsome thing was that I submitted a card for a birthday challenge at the Hero Arts blog and I was so suprised and so excited when I found out that I had won 1st place there among lots of great entries. The prize was a $50 shopping spree in the Hero Arts shop. Then tonight, the winners in the 6 categories in the Sizzlin Summer Contest at My Creative Scrapbook was announced and I won the "Family Time" category with my Summer Sweet / Sommar Fina LO. (you can see that LO in my previous post here in the blog) The prize for that will also be sent to me with my september kit!! I have some serious happy mail coming my way shortly!! :)

Another great scrapbook related thing that happened recently was that some of my work was published at http://www.scrapbooknewsandreview.com/ . 3 of my vintage ATC's, my necklace and my fridge magnets. Tonight I got another e-mail from them telling me they have accepted another one of my LO's for publication! Super exciting!!

When I started scrapping just over a year ago I would never have dreamed that would be so lucky and fortunate! Not only lucky in winning contest but the greatest part of it is that I have met some wonderful new friends through scrapbooking. Both IRL and online!!

First is a card for my brothers 40th birthday. My brother is a musician so the DCWV Rockstar paper was just perfect for this! The "hinges" that looks like little guitars are grungeboard that I painted with crackle paint. The title letters are also grungeboard painted with crackle paint. I've never made a card this big before. It's a 12x12 paper that I folded in half.





This next card I made for my niece Rebecca for her 7th birthday. I wanted to try the inchies technique that I saw a video tutorial for at the Hero Arts blog and this is how my card turned out.

Sizzlin' Summer Contest!

I've participated in a challenge at mycreativescrapbook.com that has been running for the past six weeka. It was all about summer and the things we do during the summer. It's been so much fun and last night I posted my 6th and last LO. Every week there has been a drawing among the people who have uploaded a LO that week and I was the lucky winner of week 5! Can't wait to get my scrappy goodies in the mail! Can't wait for the judges to make their decisions about the winners either! They've got a tough job ahead of them cause there's a LOT of great entries!

I thought I'd post the LO's I have made for the challenges.

First off is the Water Fun category. The pics are taken 2 years ago when we visited my step kids grandpa and step grandma. They loved cooling off in the little pool. The neighbors dog came over and wanted to jump in too! :) (the title is in swedish as usual and means Summer Bath).

The next challenge I completed was for the Outdoor Activities category. What's better on a nice hot summer day then to enjoy a popsicle! These pictures were taken this summer, again visiting the kids grandpa and step grandma. The kids are relaxing, eating their popsicles out on the patio. "Glasstajm" means Ice Cream Time.

Week 3 the category I picked was Summer Love and I decided to scrap an old picture from back in 1980 when I was a flower girl at a wedding! After listening to my brothers saying that they would never smile and let their teeth show in a picture again cause they looked stupid in their school photos, I decided that was the best way to go! No matter how hard the photographer tried saying the most hilarious things, I held my smile together and did now show my teeth! It's a cute story now but I wish I had just smiled big letting my teeth show! :) The title says "Flowergirl 1980"

Week 4 I went with the Family Time category and scrapped this really cute picture of my niece and nephews. (My oldest brothers kids). Aren't they adorable? I just love that picture of them! The title can't be translated directly to english but I choose to call it "Summer Sweet"

Week 5 I picked the Vacation category and scrapped some animal pictures from Borås Djurpark (Borås Zoo) that we visited this summer with the kids. Almost everything on this LO are papers and embellies from the monthly kit at My Creative Scrapbook. I loved the kit and had so much fun playing with it on this LO! The title would be translated to "Visitors from far away".

For the final week (number 6) I was really pressed for time! The category was Cookouts and I'm not entirely happy with this LO. However, I finished it at 2.30 AM and I was too tired to do it over. Food looks delish though right?! :)

I'm really proud to have gotten so many LO's done! Guess I like working under pressure. It's been fun making LO's and taking a little break in the card making!

The new design!

I have fixed this place up a bit with some help from "The cutest Blog on the Block" (you'll find a link to their website at the top left corner). I'm hoping this will get me to blog more frequently since I now have a pretty blog! :) Wasn't really pleased with the way it used to look.

So, what do you all think? Do you like the new design? Should I blog more? Less? (as if that's possible!!) LOL!

Do I have any readers apart from Tesa and Mindy? :) Maybe I should promote my blog a bit more than I do now!

To be honest, I'm not sure that many people read my blog! But for the faithful reader (Yes Tesa, I'm talking about you) here's a new post for you to read when you get back from your vacation!! LOL! Hope you had a great time by the way! :)

Looking forward to going on a mini vacation of my own tomorrow through the weekend. We're visiting the inlaws! The kids will get to spend some time with their grandpa (farfar). We plan on a few outings as well. Going to the zoo. Going for a swim in the nearby lake and doing a bit of shopping too! The kids are gonna bring their money they have saved up so they can buy whatever the like! Hoping to get some great pictures too that I can scrap when we get back!

And speaking of scrapping...here are a few projects I've been working on lately!
